IRBMA GENERAL MEETING:
FEBRUARY 6, 2002 - THE WESTIN-INDIANAPOLIS


The meeting was called to order by President Linda Wilgus at 1:00 P.M..

Prior to the meeting, the IRBMA members toured the Indiana Capital Building – State House.

The afternoon speaker was Elizabeth Merchiers, a Policy Analyst for Indiana State Medical Association. Elizabeth presented the processes of authoring bills and developing laws in Indiana. She also updated the members on legislative issues affecting healthcare, radiology, and managed care. To keep informed on legislation, you can visit the web site at www.state.in.us/legislation.

Linda Wilgus presented awards of recognition to the exiting Board Members, Doris Allgood and Dale Huffman.

The Treasurer’s report was given by Linda Willgus as follows:

Checking account balance $ 2876.90
Savings account balance $ 5670.15
Certificates of Deposit balance $ 20,177.99
Total balance $ 28,725.04

Theresa Lin will audit the books and report to the membership.


PROGRAM – The meeting dates and programs were announced by Linda Wilgus:

May 4 –joint meeting with the Indiana Roentgen Society at Indiana University, University Place Hotel.

It was suggested to that the two organizations meet together during the morning session and separate during the afternoon session. Possible program topics for the meeting were discussed:

1. How the two organizations could collaborate on legislative topics.

2. HIPPA as it pertains to radiology and radiologists.

3. BKD database. There was much discussion on how we should proceed with this process. After hearing many opinions, Deb Overcash suggested to allow the Board Members to make the decision on the direction to take via a teleconference.

August 21 – Embassy Suites. Program to be determined and suggestions can be emailed to Theresa Lin.

November 20 – Embassy Suites. Program to be determined and suggestions can be emailed to Theresa Lin.

July 26 and 27 – IRBMA will be hosting the RCCB coding test and review in Indianapolis at the Omni located at 8100 North Shadeland.

There must be at least 75 participants to secure the testing. The RBMA (Helen Tipton) will help advertise. Linda Wilgus has started a database of contacts for mailings. It was suggested to visit the Billing Service Association web site for Radiology specific billing services to contact. Email Linda with any contacts you may know.

Walt Blackham will conducting the review the day prior to the test.


MEMBERSHIP – Membership renewals have been mailed. Anyone needing a membership form contact Linda Wilgus.

INSURANCE LIASON – Dan Neidlinger is still trying to get clarity from Medicare concerning billing for pre-operative chests.

Transition for deleting PCCM certifications codes will start with Marion and Allen counties in April 2002.

Members raised other issues regarding billing for serivces:

1. Using E/M codes to replace 36005 when checking venous access ports.
2. Payment for US guidance when placing venous access ports.

Email Dan with any specific issues.

Randal Roat has contacted Adminastar for a date to begin HIPPA testing in Indiana. There has been no commitment to a specific date at this time.

Michael Lamasters is currently the CAC representative. Due to his retirement, a volunteer is needed to fulfill this position. Contact Linda Wilgus if interested.

Dr. Carol Cunningham has been named as the new Medical Director for Adminastar.


here being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:00 P.M.

The next meeting will be May 4, 2002.
